Dear Friend,
With all the uncertainty of the
global economy these days, more and more people are seeking another way
to improve their financial situations. Owning your own business is they
key.
With so many options for business
ownership now available, you can start and grow your own business while
still keeping your current job. The second stream of income your
business produces can grow to the point where you then have the freedom
to decide to keep your job or go full-time in your own business.
There are so many choices today.
You can literally pick from hundreds of rock-solid business ideas.
Working for yourself is rewarding
and it allows you to control your income and your time.
I'm always surprised, though, when
I talk with someone about owning their own business and working from
their own home office, and they say "Gosh, Robin, I don't know if I can
do what you do."
That always leaves me wondering, what exactly do
they think I do all day?
So, I thought
I'd give you just a brief snapshot of what my day looks like. I
think you'll find it surprisingly simple.
I think many people think
successful entrepreneurs have to work 20 hours a day, or that their life
has to revolve around their business 7 days a week. Or, that they
have to have a Harvard MBA.
Well, that's not me.... and that's
certainly is not my life.
If you'd really like to know how
simple a successful business life can be, here's my typical day
from Monday thru Thursday (Friday thru Sunday is family time).

• Wake up between 6:30 or 7:00 am. I'm a morning
person. I love being up early to start my day,
watching the world wake up around me. I especially
love watching the rest of the neighbors driving off to their
jobs while I get to stay home!

• Cook and eat breakfast with Henk . I'm always
surprised at how few couples get to spend time in the
morning, chatting over breakfast! While the neighbors
are hurrying to get their children to daycare and then
fighting traffic on the interstate, I'm enjoying spending
some quality time with my husband.
___________________________
• Pour a cup of coffee and spend some quiet time with God
and reading some scripture. I can't tell you what a
difference this makes in my day! I used to go rushing off
into my day but found that spending some time in the morning
with a prayer of thanks and reading the Word makes a huge
difference in the success of my day! This is a lesson
I wish I had learned earlier in my life!

Do some language study. Currently, it's Afrikaans (next
up, Danish). I found a great language software program
that makes language learning easy, fast and fun.

Pour my second cup of coffee and leisurely walk down the
hall to my home office and check and complete my Marketing
Plan for the day. One of the keys to success is having
a written marketing plan for the month. I write mine
the last week of each month for the following month.
Just a few, simple strategies employed each day creates
volumes of business. Doing my marketing for the day
takes less than an hour.

Read and respond to emails. This really shouldn't
even qualify as 'work.' It's too simple!

• Chat on the phone for 30-60 minutes. This is the fun
part! I really enjoy meeting and talking with new
people, as well as staying in touch with friends, business
associates and business partners.

That's
it, I'm done! Off to enjoy the rest of the day.
One evening a week, for one hour, I do conduct a worldwide
training call (by choice).

Did you notice how
little of my day is spent working my business? Even
"full-time" I only work 2-4 hours a day on my business. The
rest of my day is mine to spend as I like. Generally, I
spend it writing. My passion is writing books and reports that
help other entrepreneurs grow their business.
If you also notice, everything I
do each day I can also do from anywhere in the world!
My most favorite trip thus far has
been a month in South Africa followed 9 days later by nearly a
month in China!
I didn't have to beg a boss to
give me time off. I didn't have to ask anyone's permission to
leave work. I actually didn't have to leave my work at all; I could take
it with me. I didn't have to max out my credit cards to afford the
travel, either.
In fact, I actually grew my
business while in both countries and met other entrepreneurs along the
way! I was able to stay in communication with my business partners
and continue to work as I wanted.
I love to travel. Being able
to go wherever I want, whenever I want is important to me. We've
been blessed to be able to meet incredible people around the world.
